There's no better way to learn about sake ...

than by drinking it, which is why I enjoy hosting events like the ones you see below. Newbies and full-on nihonshu nerds are welcome! If you're in the NY-metro area and are interested having an event with me, please contact me. Let's make it happen!

Sake Geek x Somm Spirit'd Taiwan

I teamed up with the lovely, knowledgeable and enthusiastic folks at Somm Spirit'd Taiwan for a series of sake tastings and pairings in the spring and summer of 2019.  An introduction to sake was followed by  a sake and food pairing night, and the series culminated with a sake vs. wine face-off, in which sake was determined to be the winner!

Sake Geek x Cafe Yuzu

In honor of the tradition of tsukimizake, or drinking sake under moonlight, I teamed up with world-class potter Akira Satake  (Gallery Mugen) and his equally talented wife Cynthia (Cafe Yuzu) for a paired meal that culminated in the group venturing out to have a look at the moon and enjoy some sake. The moon was hard to see that night, but what we did discover was that sake is a versatile partner for a wide array foods, both savory and sweet. It also was a delight to enjoy delicious food and sake served on Akira's stunning pottery.
